The first kindergarten, primary, primary art, secondary, secondary vocational and higher vocational school in the Slovak Republic can become a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network.
ASPnet is not a network of elite schools and is not focused on academic excellence. It is open to schools with different capacities/conditions and resources. Membership in the network is a voluntary commitment with the aim of contributing to peace, international understanding and sustainable development. As membership is voluntary, all school activities are paid for from the school's own funds. The Slovak Commission for UNESCO does not cover the costs associated with it.

Before submitting the application itself, it is advisable to contact the national coordinator at rastislav.hruby@ilib.sk. The national coordinator then informs the secretariat of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO. After the application for membership in ASPnet is approved, the school fills out the application form via the following web link: Home | UNESCO ASPnet. The completed form is first sent to the national coordinator for checking, after his approval, the application is sent to the ASPnet headquarters for approval. The entire admission process ends with the international coordinator of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network, who, in case of a positive opinion, issues the school a certificate of admission to the UNESCO Associated Schools Network.
