On Wednesday 17th of June 2009 Dr. A. Waheed Khan, the deputy Secretary general of UNESCO for communication and information, visited the University Library in Bratislava.
Except of the meeting with the management of the library he visited the exhibition of Slovak natural sites inscribed on the World Heritage List. To Dr. Khan were presented precious pieces from the Basagic collection of islamic manuscripts, inscribed on the Memory of the World list. He has visited the Information and documentation UNESCO centre where he handed over the certificates of UNESCO associated schools to 3 representants of the schools.
Dr. Abdul Waheed Khan is a well-known advocate of freedom of speech and press, promoter of media independency as well as development of the communication and information access.
